Welcome to the web page for U3A Kings Norton's longer walks. We meet on the 2nd and 4th Thursday each month (with occasional variations due to Christmas and other bank holidays). Walks are normally of between 6 and 8 miles, using a variety of paths, tracks and tow-paths, avoiding roads as far as possible. They are aimed at those with some country walking experience but are not overly strenuous, although they may well include hilly bits. Participants are expected to have sturdy boots or shoes and carry waterproofs and/or sun-gear, as appropriate, a packed lunch and also snacks and drink.
Details of each walk are emailed to all group members a few days before each event. These specify the start and/or meeting place and time for each walk (usually 10 to 10:30 am). Lifts can be arranged if you have no transport or prefer not to drive. We aim to finish walking by 3 pm and except for a very few special cases, walks are within a 1 hour drive.
Previously our walks have ranged from local walks such as Moseley Bog, Cofton (especailly for the snowdrops|), Frankley and Sandwell Valley and further afield including Compton Verney, Kinver, Martley and Wyre Forest. A couple of years we went all the way to Dimock in Gloucestershire for the wild daffodils.. As the days lengthen we venture a bit further afield.
